High-Capacity Industrial Filters – Sand, Activated Carbon & Multimedia

High-performance water treatment for large flow rates

Waste & Water's industrial filters are designed for the continuous filtration of large volumes of raw water, process water, or treated wastewater.

Our high-capacity models can handle flow rates from 20 to 100 m³/h, in single or multiple parallel configurations.

They are used for:

  • Removal of suspended solids (TSS)
  • Reduction of COD/BOD
  • Adsorption of organic matter, metal residues, pesticides, or odors
  • Prefiltration before reverse osmosis or discharge

 

Available Filter Types

Sand Filters (single media)

  • Filtering media: calibrated quartz sand
  • Mechanical filtration of particles >20 μm
  • Low head loss
  • Suitable for raw or clarified water

Activated Carbon Filters

  • Media: Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)
  • Adsorbs free chlorine, COD, pesticides, and odors
  • Ideal for tertiary treatment or drinking water production

Multimedia Filters

  • Combination: anthracite + sand + gravel + zeolite
  • Progressive filtration of fine and colloidal particles
  • Improved performance at high flow rates

All filters are available with automatic or manual backwash systems.

FAQ – High-Capacity Industrial Filters

💬 What is the backwash frequency of a sand filter?

Typically every 24 to 72 hours, depending on suspended solids load.
Backwash can be triggered automatically via a timer or differential pressure sensor.

 

💬 When should you use an activated carbon filter?

When you need to remove dissolved organic compounds, chemical residues, chlorine, taste, or odor.
Commonly used after biological treatment or before consumption.

 

💬 What is the service life of filter media?

  • Sand: 3 to 5 years
  • Activated Carbon: 6 to 12 months (depending on pollutant load)
  • Multimedia: Replace top layers every 1–2 years

 

💬 Can multiple filters be used in parallel?

Yes. We design filter banks on stainless steel frames for redundancy and continuous operation, including rotation and backup systems.

 

💬 Do you supply the filter media as well?

Absolutely. We deliver filters pre-filled or empty, with certified media for food-grade or industrial use, ready to operate.
